How To Modernise Banking Solutions with OpenShift & Hybrid Cloud

The demo explores an excellent example of how banks can adopt a Hybrid Cloud using OpenShift and the latest technologies from IBM, Azure and IBM Cloud to innovate and modernise banking and financial solutions—presented by Paul Chapman, Systems Red Hat & Cloud Technical Lead at IBM Systems Europe, alongside CSI Head of Cloud Services Jason Normanton and CSI Client Director Matt Clemow.

CSI FSS Customer Webinar 19 May 2021

Demonstration

In addition to this webinar is a demonstration of modernising an existing Banking Solution based initially on DB2 for back-end OLTP transactions, Websphere Application Server middleware and Web Browser-based front-end user interface.

We add OpenShift to refresh and modernise the front end; all are running on the same physical IBM Power Server infrastructure.

After modernising the front end, multiple development teams work independently to add additional services using Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and IBM Cloud.

Finally, we show IBM Multicloud Manager managing the Hybrid Cloud environment, which includes Virtual Machine, Container, x86 and Power architectures.

Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Management today

Since recording the webinar, MCM functionality has evolved into;

  • Watson for AI Ops, which managers Hybrid Cloud x86 & Power Virtual Machines & Logical Partitions.
  • Red Hat Advanced Cluster Manager manages multiple x86 and Power-based Hybrid Cloud OpenShift Clusters.
  • Instana also observes both x86 & Power Hybrid Cloud infrastructure and applications.
  • Turbonomic, which recommends and optimises both x86 and Power VM and Container Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.

I will soon add additional content updating the latest Enterprise Hybrid Cloud Management offerings.
